Katlyn Cerda
About me
Katlyn is a dynamic and versatile dance artist with strong foundations in Modern, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, and Acro. From an early age, Katlyn immersed herself in diverse styles, each shaping her into the well-rounded performer she is today. She pursued further training at Palomar College under the mentorship of Molly Faulkner. There, she deepened her technical foundation and developed a profound appreciation for dance as an art form and an academic discipline. This period of study provided her with the opportunity to refine her movement vocabulary and artistic expression, laying a solid foundation for her professional career. Katlyn earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from George Mason University, where she trained under esteemed faculty, including Karen Reedy, Susan Shields, Shaun Boyle D’Arcy, and Christina Robson. Each mentor was pivotal in her development, pushing her to explore new movement vocabularies and challenge her creative instincts. Throughout her time at GMU, she deepened her role as an artistic collaborator, engaging fully with the choreographic work of Shaun Boyle D’Arcy and Christina Robson. She played an integral part in shaping their works through an investigative and responsive movement approach, contributing not just as a performer but as a creative voice within the process. Through this, she refined her ability to adapt, interpret, and elevate choreographic material, strengthening her range as both a mover and a co-creator in dynamic artistic environments. In addition, Katlyn had the opportunity to be a part of a pre-show performance and discussion at The Center for the Arts. For Katlyn, dance is more than movement—it is the foundation of her identity. It has shaped her discipline, resilience, and creativity, teaching her to express emotions beyond words and connect with others on a deeper level. In 2025, Katlyn will be dancing at Gin Dance Company in VA and will continue expanding her artistic footprint as a performer, choreographer and collaborator.

Dance is not just movement—it is the essence of who I am, shaping my discipline, resilience, and boundless creativity. It has given me a voice beyond words, allowing me to forge deep, unspoken connections and express the rawest parts of myself. Every challenge and every breakthrough, from the relentless rigor of training to the electrifying rush of performance, have molded me into the artist I am today. In the studio, on stage, and within the depths of creation, I pour myself fully into the process, driven by passion, gratitude, and an unshakable dedication to my craft. As I continue my journey, I remain committed to embracing every opportunity with openness, perseverance, and an ever-evolving artistic voice.
